Andrew Jackson was born on the border of North and South Carolina. He was in the Waxhaw settlement for Scotch-Irish immigrants. He considered himself South Carolina Native even though the exact place of his birth is unknown. He grew up in poverty. He received elementary school education.
Andrew Jackson became very wealthy in Tennessee. This is because he was a lawyer and general in Tennessee. He later became the seventh President of the United States of America. Before he became president, he was the hero of the War of 1812.
After his presidency, he tried settling down at The Hermitage. He found that he would not let go of politics. He actually really wanted a retirement at The Hermitage when he was President. He helped some others when they were running for office. He eventually got tired and ill, and he died at The Hermitage.
When Jackson's wife (Rachel), died, he visited her grave almost everyday. His grave is right next to Rachel's grave. Rachel loved visiting those gardens with Andrew Jackson. Their graves are at The Hermitage in Nashville Tennessee.
